At this Working Open Workshop (WOW), D-Lab and the Mozilla Science Lab are co-organizing a one-day event focused on Open Science. We'll host a series of talks and presentations related to open science practice and tools for open collaboration. This website will serve as a resource for all sessions materials.

Schedule

Open Science Intro

The life cycle of Open Science encompasses all steps of scientific research: from hypothesis generation, to literature review, to data collection, to data analyses and finally to publication of results.

During this one-day conference, we would like to bring to the limelight some of these life cycle steps with special emphasis on collaborative platforms and tools that can be used to do open science.

The conference day is open to people working at the D-Lab but also to the general public. Follow the link HERE to register for the event. Registration opens on June 10th!

Help

  1. Getting Help

Here we'll hopefully answer questions you might have.

    • What is our event hashtag?

      #mozwow

    • Is there a chat room?

Yes, we have a Gitter chat room.

    • Where can I find the Science Lab Code of Conduct?

You can find it here. We'd love for feedback on how it could be improved.

    • Who can I approach if I have any problems or issues to report that violate our Code of Conduct?

In coordination with our Code of Conduct, we have two appointed members of our "safety team" responsible for maintaining the ethos of that code throughout the event, and providing help or resources to anyone who might require it. Reach out to the following people if you have questions, issues, or concerns that you wish to express.

      • Aurelia Moser - @auremoser, aurelia@mozillafoundation.org
  2. Finding Resources

Here we'll list some persistent resources that you might use throughout the workshop.

Glossary

Open Research/Science

Open science is a different approach to the practice of scientific research, aimed at making research more understandable, useful, and impactful by making documentation more transparent, facilitating inter-disciplinary and -departmental collaborations, and making scholarly communication more accessible. You can learn more about it in our Open Research 101 online course.

Fellows

The Mozilla Science Lab has a group of awesome fellows in our annual fellowship program, the 2017 fellows are present at WOW, and will be co-running sessions throughout the event.
